Seattle Skyline

Your brain needs this. No, really. It does.

The Emerging Media Conference, about to take place in Seattle, is two-days of top-notch speakers exploring the theme of “Where are we going?” through the lens of their experiences in social, mobile and games. With topics like the shift from individual to collaborative creation, a post-Zombie apocalypse tech black-out and the incredible impact of technology on educating our kids, you’re pretty much guaranteed to get that amazing head rush feeling that comes with hearing big ideas from smart people.

Pony’s own Laura Lippay is the hostess with the mostess and has two Essential Passes to give away to this amazing event. How to enter? It’s easy! Just leave a comment below with your favorite thing about Seattle and we’ll pick two random winners on Friday. The not-so-small print: The prize is one Essential Pass to EmMeCon in Seattle and does not include airfare, food/drink or hotel … although I bet Laura would be willing to buy you a hotdog.

My favorite thing about Seattle is the ease of the city. It feels like it requires so little, and gives much back. It doesn’t require you to wear a tie to dinner, recycling is easy, and the weather is too mild to warrant much attention during most of the year.

After 2-years study here, I am so attached to this city and now I think it is my second hometown. With all the attachment to the people, building and chill spots here, it feels so nature to miss even the rains, the chill personality and strange homeless people there.

I absolutley love Seattle because it has everything you need: Lakes, Rivers, Mountains, Glaciers…….except the Sonics (Go Heat)!

Having lived in South and North Carolina for 7 years, I can tell you that there is no better place to live than Seattle…especially because of AWESOME days like today!! No humidity, no hurricanes, no flash floods, no mosquitoes!!

    Bottom line…Seattle ROCKS!

There are too many great things about Seattle to have one favorite. As a local to Seattle, days like this (67 degrees now, up to 70+ later AND sunny) are why we stay so patent in the winter. The city is buzzing with active people enjoying Greenlake, Alki, the Mariners, or cruising around Pike Place. I mostly enjoy the views from atop Queen Anne at Kerry Park. The key is to experience the city and all it offers. Do this and I guarantee you will find it hard to pick a favorite.

I was born and raised in this beautiful state… moving to Southern California when I was 18 and then being lucky enough to move home in 2007. There is absolutely no place like Seattle… No other location that has the mountains and the sound all in one visual plane. No place where you can find such a robust center of live music and creative talents. Very proud to call this home!

My favorite thing about Seattle is the abundance of parks I can take my dog to.

Things I like about Seattle: The water front. The ferries. The parks. The Mountain. The scenery, especially looking west across the Sound from a hill. The PIke Place market, especially the artitists (althought there aren’t as many now as there used to be, and it’s hard to meet the producer). The Sunlight Cafe. PCC stores. The fabulous display of art glass at the tree canopy level of the Town Center builidng in downtown Seattle,

I love the music in the parks, the flowers in bloom in the north-end residential neighborhoods, the smell of the soil walking on Phinney Ridge. I like the art shops of PIoneer Square, and the beach at Golden Gardens.

My favorite thing about Seattle is when I can see Mt. Rainier and the other mountains.

I love Seattle for its creative, intelligent, techno-savy, casual population – for its mountains, water, landmarks and gardens – for its mild, gorgeous summer weather!

I love Seattle because of so many things. Green Lake, politics, culture, intelligent and forward thinking people. Oh yes, and we are home of lots and lots of whales, eagles and dolphins.

Initially I was going to say that my favorite thing about Seattle is that attracts awesome conferences like EmMeCon. If you look at the fact that they are holding this conference in only two cities, Seattle and San Francisco, that tells you something! If the organizers were having it in Seattle and Cleveland, that would tell you something else. I was also going to say that my favorite thing about Seattle is it attracts people like Laura Lippay and Heather Quintal, but that would have been for schmooze effect only and they would have seen right through that. And that would have been two favorite things, which is cool for four-year-olds, but not for this mature adult. My favorite thing about Seattle is that I can live here with my family of five without having to sell my whole soul to the Man like I would if I lived in SF or NYC or San Diego. Here I only need to sell a small part of my soul to the Man and there’s plenty left over for things that really matter, like tickets to Sounders games.

My favorite thing about Seattle might be the sky–it’s ever changing and full of color, patterns and textures, and can be full of rain and sun all at the same time–those crazy micro-climates. More rainbows than anywhere else I’ve lived, and I even saw the Aurora Borealis once. I also love that Seattlites are weather geeks, and that talking about the weather can lead you to a conversation about any topic anytime, anywhere–lots of interesting people.
